Adeje is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tenerife. This municipality neighbors upon Guia de Isora and Arona, and it is part of the South Area of Tenerife. Its proximity to Reina Sofia, the South Airport of the island, makes Adeje highly accessible to the tourist flow. Furthermore, from an infrastructural point of view, Adeje is also located close to Los Cristianos, the most important port in south Tenerife (which, for that matter, pertains to the municipality of Arona).

The tourist success of Adeje is evidenced by the large number of car rental companies operating in this municipality or in its surroundings, as well as by the fair range of luxury hotels located in here, such as Sheraton La Caleta Resort and Spa, Vincci Seleccion La Plantacion del Sur, Hotel Jardines de Nivaria, Roca Nivaria Gran Hotel, Hotel Iberostar Anthelia, just to give a few examples. In fact, it might be said Adeje features the highest density of luxury hotels in Tenerife, close to Arona.

Much of the nightlife in Tenerife is clustered in and around Adeje, with a plethora of bars, clubs, discos and one casino, namely, Casino de Las Americas. Shopping is also pretty rewarding in Adeje, though it does not reach the height of the shopping opportunities in the Metropolitan Area of Tenerife.

Yet, one can easily imagine the main asset upon which Adeje capitalizes from a tourist point of view refers to its beaches: Troya, El Duque, Fanabe, and the spectacular Las Americas, the latter being shared, from an administrative point of view, with Arona. In addition, the proximity to Corona Forestal Nature Park, to the Teide National Park, to the Granadilla Moonscape and to the Los Gigantes Cliffs contributes to the tourist success of Adeje.

The presence of Siam Park and of Aqualand Costa Adeje is also worth mentioning, since these two are some of the most notable theme parks in Tenerife. But sports too enhance the appeal Adeje exerts on visitors. Golf, horse riding, tennis, trekking, not to mention the wide range of water sports (diving, surfing, sailing, fishing) and paragliding, all these are possible in Adeje and in its close surroundings. Such opportunities are complemented by the proximity to Los Cristianos, which enables island hopping by means of boat trips to virtually all the other islands of the archipelago, and by the proximity to Reina Sofia, from where tourists accommodated in Adeje can take off and visit Gran Canaria, La Palma, Fuerteventura or Lanzarote, for instance.

Several tourist information offices are located in Adeje, which substantiates the intense tourist activity of this destination. Visitors can spot such offices in C. C. Plaza del Duque, in Playa Fanabe, and on Avda. Rafael Puig.
