A large number of towns and villages in Tenerife celebrate the summer solstice on June the 23rd. There are differences between customs, depending on the region, but what the manifestations have in common refers to setting out fires where old things and items are burned, which symbolizes the fact the past is left behind. In the evening of June the 23rd, folk music festivals take place, along with fireworks and lights shows. On June the 24th, early in the morning, the so-called bathing of the goat takes place.
